State Champs Again!

This has been a great school year so far. First we played a GREAT season in football which finally led to our first state title in 14 years, and now we have done it again. Our girls basketball team has gotten the very first girls state title in Dixie High School history. No girl basketball player who graduated from Dixie could ever say "We brought home a State championship trophy" until now.
At the game during third and fourth quarter, Kelsey McCann scored a 3-point shot which went in with 3.9 seconds left giving us the 1-point lead. After her shot, Desert Hills came in with the steal, that put Desert hills in the lead 27-26. Dixie trailed by 2 when Kelsey McCann made her third 3-point shot that then gave us our first Girls State Championship Title in school's history.
One of the proudest moments it Dixie High School history.

Plaid Week

Well this year for "Plaid Week" was a success! Plaid Week is my own person 5 day holiday I made up that falls on any time of the year I want it to. It's one of my favorite things of the year. What it is, is I pick one of the many plaid shirts I have on Monday then wear the a different one each day of the week. It starts on Monday and ends on Friday. It just makes my week perfect and so far in the two years I've done it, that week always turns out to be a good one. So I picked this week.
Monday I wore my yellow and teal one. Tuesday I wore my pink and orange one. Wednesday I wore my hot pink and blue one. Thursday I wore my red black and white one. Then Friday I wore my blue and white one in honor of my school since everyone usually wears blue on Friday's. Here are the results of "Plaid Week"

State Rings

This is my first post of 2013! And I would like to dedicate it to the football players at my school. Mostly because this post is actually about them!

These past few months have been so amazing since getting out first state title in 14 years. I am proud to announce that we finally have more proof of getting that. We finally got our banner hung up on the wall in the gym building next to all of our other banners and what not, we got our pictures, articles in the news papers, our trophy, and last but not least OUR STATE RINGS!!

Our state rings are bigger than Hurricane's, much heavier. and so much more amazing.
In the middle of the ring, we have the Dixie High School Football "D" in the middle of a bunch of diamonds. Around the middle it says State Champions, then on the inside they say "The Royal Line" then below that it says their names, then whatever else they wanted to have engraved on the inside.

I am so proud of every one of them. I don't know how many times I have said that but I do know that I cannot express it enough. That is one day I will never be able to forget even if I tried. (Even though I wouldn't) I wouldn't have wanted to spend that day any different than I did. That was a day that changed not only all of our football players lives, or the coaches, but every other person in our school that went to that game. It was truly a day worth remembering. The second day worth remembering was the day every one of those boys made their way through the D in the gym as each one of them got their names called to go recieve their state rings.

2012 STATE CHAMPIONS DIXIE HIGH SCHOOL!!

We drove 5 hours, and played our butts off to get our
trophy we've been waiting 14 years for.
Last night was probably one of the best nights in history for the Dixie High School football team. But probably one of the worst for Spanish Fork. I don't think I've been prouder to be a flyer till last night. We loaded up the 6 buses going up to Rice Eccles Stadium on Friday morning at 4:45 a.m. to make the 5 hour drive to watch the state championship our boys have been waiting 14 years to finally be at. we arrived at the stadium at about 10-10:30 and filed in with the rest of the student body, got our seats and waited impatiently as we watch our boys stretch then run into the locker room.
The team all lined up. Lukas and Braxton are ready to win.

The game finally started, we made the first touchdown the first 5 minutes into the game. But as the game goes on in the first quarter, the Spanish Fork Dons then made one tying it 7-7. First quarter ended, second started as we all watched and cheered as Blake Barney, our star quarterback passed the ball to someone else and made another touchdown. The cowed was going NUTS! Blake passed the ball to Andy Appel, and he ran for his touchdown making the score 21-7 with 30 seconds left on the clock.

Students lifting up Tyson after winning.
Third quarter then started and we cheered our hearts out for our boys. About halfway through, Spanish Fork made a 32-yard run. Blake then caugh up with Lukas Hildebrandt, threw the ball to him he caught it, made several moves on the other team, then booked it for the end zone. About 18 seconds after that happened, the Dons caught up and made a touchdown at the end of the third quarter. Third quarter ended with 28-21 Dixie.

Cheering for the team. "We're from Dixie Couldn't be prouder"
Fourth quarter starts with everyone cheering and freaking out on both sides. The last 4 minutes, blake passes the ball to Tyson Graff and he makes a 33-yard interception return for the score. Winning the game with 49-21 as the score on the score board. Dixie won the 3A state championship for the first time since 1998. Can you imagine the excitement from the players and from all of us in the stands? Cheering our cheers saying "We are the Flyers, we are the best and we HAVE conquered.", "W're from Dixie, couldn't be prouder", and my favorite.."WE BELIEVE THAT WE JUST WON, WE BELIEVE THAT WE JUST WON, WE BELIEVE THAT WE JUST WON". I am soooo proud of my boys, and so thankful that I was able to go up and watch them finally be able to achieve their dreams since they were little kids to become state champions.
Blake making a touchdown

We entered the State playoffs third seed from Region 9, beat North Sanpete, killed the undefeated Stansbury, and beat Juan Diego 14-13 at Rice Eccles stadium in the past 3 weeks.
Lukas and Drew after finding out our touchdown didn't count

Blake Barney became the 6th highest offensive producer in state history. And Lukas Hildebrandt set the state championship game record with 207 receiving yards.

First Football Game 2012-2013

Last night was our first football game of the season. We played Springville and and won 28-13. So the boys were pretty excited that we won the first game. For every touchdown, the band would get ready and play the school fight song while my team and I performed the routine that goes to it. At halftime we also got to perform our Call Me Maybe routine and that went better than I expected it to. The wind was good enough that we were able to do all of our tosses and everything. I was a little early on a few parts but other than that we did good. The Jetette's got to perform first like they usually do, then the cheerleaders did their dance, then we went last so we still had a big cheering crowd. By the end of the game my feet hurt so bad I could barely walk. But other than that it was so much fun and I can't wait for next week.
